CO-FOUNDER

mymmerchan.com

MARIAJOSE

María José is a trilingual communications professional with ample international experience in different countries and positions. Since 2013, she has researched on site the existing commercial and investment ties and opportunities between the Gulf and Spain.

Her work –based on personal interviews to political leaders, Presidents and CEO’s of relevant companies and institutions– is presented in the trilogies and includes the UAE: The Center of the New Silk Road, published in El Economista and in El Correo del Golfo. This work – produced with the support of the UAE Embassy in Spain and the Consulate General of the UAE in Barcelona – led the UAE Ministry of Economy to sign a still valid MOU with MyM Merchan in 2016 on the understanding that their editorial projects raised awareness and promoted “the economic and investment climate in the UAE, particularly in Spain and the emerging economies of Latin America”. It also led to the agreement early this year between Dubai Media Inc. and MyM Merchan to boost the image of Spanish companies in the Gulf through the publication of reports in the Emirati daily Al Bayan. The first project –exposing and promoting the image of Barcelona as a medical tourist hub for Arab patients- was published in January 2018.

María José began working as an interpreter of English and German at major international sports events such as FIFA World Cup ‘82, Basketball World Championship ‘86. In 1988, she moved to Munich to work at the HANNS SEIDEL STIFTUNG, the political foundation of the government party, CSU. She was in charge of the organisation of official visits of high-ranking Spanish-speaking personalities to Bavaria. e.g. former Spanish PM José María Aznar, ministers, mayors and politicians from Spain and Latin America as well as for the translation and representation of the Foundation during them. Back to Spain, she worked in Málaga at the TOURIST BOARD OF THE COSTA DEL SOL. 2 years after, she was offered to work at the World Exposition EXPO 92 in Seville, supporting the General Commissioner of the German Pavilion in his diplomatic and representation tasks. Once the event was over, she stayed on in Seville working at the General Consulate of Germany in charge of the organization and management of official visits of German delegations to the city.
